These countersinks can be bought with fixed pilots which fit exactly the bore in the chisel. Each separate chisel must have a countersink with a pilot to suit each size. Alternatively a sharpening set is available with interchangeable pilots, held in place with a socket screw locked with an Allen key. The use of this tool ensures that all four cutting edges will be evenly sharpened and maintained in the correct shape and bevel. Place the chisel carefully in a vice, fit the tool into a brace. Several turns on the tool will produce a fine cutting edge. The inside corners of the chisel must be finished with a fine file.
Available as either the Interchangable Pilot Type 539 Series Cutters made in High Speed Steel or as Solid Type High Speed Steel 538 Series.
Series 539 sets include: Set no. 1 includes cutters for chisel sizes: 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 7/16" and 1/2"
Set no. 2 includes cutters for chisel sizes: 3/8", 7/16", 1/2", 9/16", 5/8" & 3/4"
Set no. 3 includes cutters for chisel sizes: 3/4", 7/8" & 1".
Series 538 is available in two cutter sizes for chisels: 5/16" or 3/8"
