Crown Hand Tools were independently developed in the early 1990’s when a gap was seen in the market for a wide range of high quality woodworking tools at an affordable price. With over 35 years of experience prior to setting up Crown Hand Tools, the Gandy family have used their knowledge and dedication to provide one of the largest ranges of woodworking tools available from any UK tool manufacturer. Their wide range means there are woodworking tools for every budget, need and ability. At "The World of Woodworking" we are proud to be supported by Crown Hand Tools, who show that British manufacturing is still going strong here in Sheffield. NEW, the Crown Spiraling & Texturing System which will help you take your turning work to the next level! The system comes complete with 2 different spiraling wheels, an ergonomic indexing tool and a texturing wheel. This is the greatest way to apply stunning spirals and textures to your turnings!

The exclusive Crown Pro-PM turning tools are considered an elitist range in the woodturning world. These are made from Powder Metal, in which the molten steel has been compressed and sintered giving the Pro-PM turning tools a cutting edge which lasts up to 4-5 times longer than that of a conventional High Speed Steel tool. The chisels are hardened to between 66° and 68° Rockwell meaning the tools have a vastly superior wear resistance, excellent grind-ability and superior toughness. They also have a high working hardness that is retained over a lengthy working life. The ergonomically designed stained black Ash handles fitted to these tools make the finished tools an unbeatable purchase. A must have for the serious wood turner or those who appreciate the finest tools.

The Crown Pro PM Bowl Gouges have all the advantages of the Pro PM range, with their extended cutting life, and superior wear resistance.

The Crown range of Spindle Gouges are all made from M2 High Speed Steel (Rockwell 62/64) and are fitted with ergonomically designed Beech handles (Rosewood available upon request). Again, these tools are very popular amongst wood turners due to their ability to out last the edge life of carbon tools by up to six times. The Spindle Gouge range has two different types: one forged in a European style and others that are milled in the regular English way. The Crown Bowl Skews made in conjunction with the well-respected North American wood turner, Dave Hout, these Bowl Skews are used for making finishing cuts when producing bowls. The cut is shear and leaves the end grain smooth. With practice, sanding can be all but eliminated.
