Best Selling ItemsOne and Two Man Cross Cut Saw
One of our most popular mail order requests, the One and Two Man Cross Cut Saws have proved to be a much sought after product. These large saws are used mostly in forestry work and the crosscutting of large logs. But in recent years, these have been bought by people aiming to cut their own fire wood etc. They are a great alternative to chain saws in both a safety and environmental way and can be used by anyone! Get the family to help!
The teeth on the Two Man Cross Cut Saws work in a way that the teeth cut on the pull stroke on each side of the tooth and so actually cut in each pulling direction. The 3 foot One Man Cross Cut Saw is provided with an auxiliary handle and the Two Man Cross Cut Saws come with two wooden handles. Available in a range of sizes to suit your needs.
Sizing advice: we recommend a saw length that is double the size of wood you are wanting to cut. This is to ensure that you can get enough stroke in your cutting.
Due to the length of these, notably 4ft and over, there will be a surcharge added to carriage if sending outside the UK and to the Scottish Highlands. Please contact me for more information if you are planning on ordering and shipping overseas.

The Clifton Two Piece Cap Iron is an entirely effective way of improving the performance of standard bench planes. The two piece Cap Iron reduces the cutting iron "chatter". In essence the hinged joint and the extra thickness means that the cutting iron is rigidly clamped to the frog and fully supported along with its width, close to the mouth.
Additional features that eliminate irritating characteristics of the one-piece Iron Cap are: - the snug fit of the accurately machined edge of the lower part of the two-piece Cap Iron prevents shavings being forced between the cutting iron and cap iron, so reducing the choking of the mouth. - The two-piece cap iron facilitates honing of the cutting iron, as the lower part can be easily removed without having to lose the original cap iron setting. (For this reason, this feature is referred to "Stay Set").
The Two-Piece Cap Iron will fit metal bench planes made by Stanley, Record, Footprint Tools etc.
